A discoid lateral meniscus is a not uncommon anatomical variant, found in up to 3% of the population 15. Patients with discoid lateral menisci have variable enlargement of the meniscal body, often with thickening of the meniscus as well. Discoid meniscus (DM) is currently considered as a spectrum of disorders in meniscal shape and stability. Diagnosing DM on MR imaging has clinical and surgical implications.
